Procore has announced plans to acquire DroneDeploy, a company known for its drone, robotics, and visual intelligence technology, in an all-cash transaction valued at $845 million. The acquisition is expected to close later this year, pending customary closing conditions.

The move brings together two major sources of construction data. Procore’s platform manages millions of project documents, drawings, inspections, and photos, while DroneDeploy has built one of the industry’s largest collections of visual data captured through drones, robots, and fixed cameras across construction sites worldwide.
After the acquisition is completed, both companies plan to make their technologies available across their combined customer base. The goal is to help contractors monitor projects more efficiently by connecting visual jobsite data with project management workflows.
Strengthening AI Capabilities
The acquisition is another step in Procore’s broader investment in artificial intelligence.
According to the company, its platform currently contains nearly 400 million project photos, more than 126 million construction drawings, and over 10 million RFIs, inspections, and submittals recorded during the past year. DroneDeploy adds approximately 20 trillion square feet of visual data, along with millions of user annotations and a large database of documented safety observations.
By combining these datasets, Procore aims to build AI tools that can automatically analyze site conditions, identify potential issues, and recommend actions for project teams.
Company executives say future AI-powered features could continuously monitor construction progress, interpret changes happening on a jobsite, and provide project teams with actionable insights in real time.
Part of a Larger Growth Strategy
This acquisition follows Procore’s purchase of AI company Datagrid earlier this year. That deal focused on expanding AI capabilities through specialized digital assistants for construction workflows.
Procore says acquisitions are intended to support its long-term product strategy rather than define it. Company leaders view strategic purchases as a way to accelerate innovation and strengthen the platform’s technology offerings.
Consolidation Continues Across Construction Technology
The construction technology industry has seen increasing merger and acquisition activity as companies race to expand their AI capabilities and digital solutions.
Recent examples include Autodesk’s acquisition of Rhumbix and Trimble’s agreement to acquire Document Crunch. These transactions highlight the growing demand for integrated platforms that combine project management, field data, and artificial intelligence to improve construction productivity.
As AI becomes more important across the construction industry, companies with access to large, high-quality datasets are expected to play an increasingly significant role in shaping the next generation of construction software.
