C&A Seneca Construction is celebrating a milestone few construction companies ever reach: 100 years of continuous operation in New York City.

Founded in 1926, the family-owned company has spent a century helping shape some of the city’s most recognizable hospitality, entertainment, residential, and mixed-use destinations. Today, the firm’s portfolio includes work at Hudson Yards, Brooklyn Tower, luxury hotels, nightlife venues, rooftop lounges, and large-scale amenity spaces throughout the five boroughs.
“For 100 years, our family has had the privilege of helping build the places where New Yorkers live, gather, celebrate, and create memories,” said Carlo A. Seneca, CEO of C&A Seneca Construction. “This milestone is about honoring the generations of employees, partners, clients, and family members who have contributed to our success while looking ahead to the next century of building in New York City.”
Four Generations of Family Leadership
The company’s roots trace back to founder Anthony Seneca, who immigrated from Italy and launched a custom carpentry and kitchen business in New York. His focus on craftsmanship and quality established the foundation for what would become one of the city’s longest-running family-owned construction firms.
Over the decades, successive generations expanded the business into residential, commercial, and large-scale construction projects. The second generation grew the company’s presence in Staten Island homebuilding, while later leadership diversified into commercial developments, office buildings, retail centers, and institutional projects.
Today, the company is led by fourth-generation CEO Carlo A. Seneca, a civil engineering graduate of Manhattan College, who has overseen the firm’s evolution into a specialist in hospitality, entertainment, and lifestyle construction projects.
Building Some of New York’s Most Recognizable Spaces
Under current leadership, C&A Seneca has completed projects across some of the city’s most prominent developments.
Among its notable projects are:
- Renovation work on the 101st floor of 30 Hudson Yards, including Peak with Priceless and Avenue Sky Lounge
- Amenities and recreation spaces at Brooklyn Tower
- Large-scale amenity areas and indoor pool facilities at 222 Broadway
- Work at the Gansevoort Hotel, Dream Downtown Hotel, and multiple Moxy Hotel locations
- Hospitality and nightlife destinations including Buddha Bar, Marquee Nightclub, Quo Nightclub, and PHD Rooftop Lounge
The company has become known for delivering projects that combine construction expertise with hospitality-focused design, helping create many of the spaces that define New York City’s social and entertainment landscape.
Integrated Construction Approach
A key factor behind the firm’s longevity has been its vertically integrated operating model. C&A Seneca combines construction management with access to architects, engineers, designers, and an in-house workforce of more than 100 skilled tradespeople.
The company has also partnered with many of the industry’s leading developers, architects, and hospitality operators, including Related Companies, Silverstein Properties, TAO Group Hospitality, Gensler, BIG, Rockwell Group, and Thierry Despont.
According to company leadership, this collaborative approach allows teams to manage complex projects while maintaining quality, efficiency, and tight construction schedules.
Looking Toward the Future
As it enters its second century, C&A Seneca says it remains focused on developing the next generation of residential, hospitality, dining, and entertainment spaces across New York City.
From its beginnings as a small carpentry business in 1926 to its role in some of New York’s most ambitious modern developments, the company has witnessed—and helped shape—a century of change across the city’s built environment.
With four generations of leadership behind it and a fifth generation preparing to enter the industry, C&A Seneca aims to continue building projects that leave a lasting impact on New York City for decades to come.
